Main Purpose

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical engineering support to ensure that plant operations are safe and reliable so that production potential is maximized in relation to plant availability.

Duties

Evaluating the performance of mechanical equipment and systems, and recommending operating changes or equipment modifications to improve plant safety, reliability and efficiency

Assisting in the design, selection and specification of new mechanical equipment or systems

Carrying out maintenance type work during periods of increased plant activities such as plant shut downs or plant turnarounds

Coordinating new project planning and installation in order to ensure adequate emphasis on mechanical requirements and cost control

Assisting in coordinating activities involving inspection, maintenance, and repairs to optimize utilization and improve reliability of mechanical equipment and systems

Reviewing prepared engineering drawings and submitting comments and recommendations in order to ensure effective final design of modified and new plant equipment and facilities

Assisting in the preparation of the company’s operating and capital budgets

Monitoring the performance of contractors to ensure acceptable execution of work

Writing contract job specifications

Preparing monthly reports on a timely basis

Requirements:

BSc. Mechanical Engineering Degree from a recognized University

Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years working experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the energy or related industry

Knowledge of PC applications in an engineering environment will be a definite asset

Knowledge of modern inspection techniques and technologies

Knowledge of sound engineering practices and recognized standards are also required
