Main Purpose

The Service Technician/Engineer is responsible for industrial/commercial equipment communication. The candidate will be responsible for connecting groups of scales to a computer systems and then subsequently converting  the data for integration with stock control programs, spreadsheets or databases.

Duties

Identify customer needs and best solutions

Specify components required to achieve customer needs

Assemble and install complex weighing systems (load cells, terminals, interface components, printers and ancillaries e.g. conveyors, valves, solenoids etc)

Program weighing terminals, calibrate scales, configure MT software, marry MT software or raw data stream (e.g. Ethernet or RS232) to customers database, record-keeping or control systems

Troubleshoot faulty systems (including customer's 'front-end' applications if necessary)

Tune complex systems to maximize efficiency, and identify means of improving existing processes

Back up other technicians and be able to cover fro them in the event of absence

Travel anywhere for service or training purposes

Explain, demonstrate and train persons in the use of MT equipment

Liaise with and co-ordinate subcontractors involved in installation such as truck scales

Write effective reports

Share knowledge with other technicians
 

Requirements:

Experience in at least one of the following: electronic scales, electronics telecommunications, industrial electrical or mechanical maintenance, industrial instrumentation

Strong ability in at least one of the following: Ms Excel, Ms Access, Networking, Ms Visual Basics, PLC programming

Professional demeanor and good communication skills

Good driving record and knowledge of local geography
